How to Reach Your Goals

We all have goals in life, whether they are a short-term or long-term, difficult or easy to reach. Why is it that so many of us seem to fall short of reaching what we truly want in life?

There are a few reasons for this. The first is that you don’t really believe you can reach your goal. If you don’t believe in yourself, the fact is, you will always find a way to make sure you do not, in fact, reach said goal.

The second is that you don’t actually want what you think you do. Having a lean body, competing in a show, having your ideal job, etc. may sound great in your head. It may sound great to say out loud. If your heart isn’t in it 100% and you aren’t willing to make any sacrifice necessary to reach your goal, you don’t really want it.

Stop for a second and think of your biggest goal. Now think about why you haven’t reached it yet. Is it finances? Time? Doubt? The bottom line will always come down to — You. It may be true that you don’t have the resources necessary to make your goal a reality. The trick is to be resourceful with what you do have in order to keep climbing towards your ultimate goal.

Once you have accepted that you are the only one that can make you reach your goal (or fail), the next step is easy. When you find the goal that makes you excited and that you are willing to sacrifice for, getting up early and staying up late doesn’t affect you anymore. Being tired and giving up your social life doesn’t bother you. Why? Because you are too busy being excited and making positive changes that will help you become the best version of yourself. When a goal truly excites you, putting in hours and hours of hard work won’t even seem like work.

Bottom line: make goals that excite you, and maybe even scare you. Then chase after those goals with everything you have and watch how your life transform.
