Work Harder

Why do people fear hard work? In sports where it is only you against yourself, why do people fear pushing themselves further? Why do people stay "safe"?
Have you ever been in the gym and done this to yourself? And have you ever thought of why? Let's say you're squatting for the sake of an example, and you complete your set and think to yourself, "wow that was really hard, I could probably go up, but I think I'll just stay here.... to be safe." Why? What's 'safe' mean? At a certain point, pushing forward means being uncomfortable. In strength sports to be more specific, these are the things that begin to affect a person. It becomes almost more of a mental game than it does physical. Why don't you want to challenge yourself? It may be doubt, uncertainty, negativity... and all these stem from fear. Stop being scared. It ultimately boils down to the fear of failure. Maybe I try this and then maybe I'll fail. So what? What happens then? You tried. So try again, eventually you will make it. You can't spend your whole life being scared of something that may or may not happen. And what else happens when you fail? Nothing. You're in exactly the same position as you would be if you didn't try it at all EXCEPT now you have that experience. You're learning, and you're pushing yourself. There's that old saying
" the master has failed more times than the student has tried", for a reason. You can't expect to become the best at anything if you can't challenge and accept failure, and push past it.
